Kaleidoscope project

2012

How do people adapt to a new culture? What coping strategies do they use? Do exchange students still use stereotypes? What are the outcomes beyond cultural competence? Does an exchange impact on students' personality? Why are intercultural friendships so important?
Above are just a few of the questions that were addressed in this research by the University of Essex. The study  compared AFS participants from 48 countries with a group of matched peers. Groups were closely monitored for 20 months (before, during, & after exchange).

An abstract of the research (which was published by the University) is available HERE.
