The topic of values is one of the new issues of intercultural pedagogy that deals with student mobility. The research conducted by Carlo Macale addressed this topic in a qualitative investigation based on Grounded Theory, which sought to explore how a moral rethinking following a year of studying abroad accompanied new life experiences. The emerging aspect from this research is that values, as experiential meanings, are foundational structures of one's identity as they are dynamic (rather than fluid) and contextualized. This process of re-signifying values, in addition to finding fertile ground in one's moral reflection, has also supported the formation of critical personalities on certain ethical-cultural issues, as well as dialogical ones that are particularly sensitive at an intercultural level. The commitment to and for social activities at various levels, in many cases, represents the manifest aspect of this change.
